چکیده
1. Abstract This paper describes the optimization of a bicycle crank mechanism equipped with springs. The purpose of the springs is to cause an even torque development over the crank cycle by elimination of the so-called dead centers of the cycle. The technology behind the optimization, musculoskeletal modeling, is described in some detail before the actual case is introduced and subjected to design optimization. It is concluded that this technology holds a large potential as analysis tool in design optimization and opens an entirely new field of practical applications.

A Study on Computer Aided Optimization Design for the Frame Form Generation of Electric Bicycle
Although the design of an electric bicycle has its demands and advantages among other types of bicycles, it is not popular in the consumer market. The reason could be that the forms of the bicycle designs are not compatible with their revealed values. When designing a bicycle frame, the concepts development process of designers are often limited by the production process, such as the analysis o...
متن کاملErgonomic evaluation and redesign of children bicycles based on anthropometric data.
Proper bicycle fit is very important for cycling performance, efficiency, comfort and injury prevention. This is especially true in the case of children cyclists that do not have the necessary cycling experience, balance and the fully developed musculoskeletal system of the adults. Bicycle fit depends on both the design and dimensions of the bicycle as well as on the anthropometric dimensions o...
متن کاملPareto Optimal Multi-Objective Dynamical Balancing of a Slider-Crank Mechanism Using Differential Evolution Algorithm
The present paper aims to improve the dynamical balancing of a slider-crank mechanism. This mechanism has been widely used in internal combustion engines, especially vehicle engines; hence, its dynamical balancing is important significantly. To have a full balance mechanism, the shaking forces and shaking moment of foundations should be eliminated completely. However, this elimination is usuall...
متن کاملEffects of saddle height on pedal force effectiveness
Bicycle saddle height configuration may affect pedal force application. Our aim was to compare pedal force effectiveness for different saddle height configurations. Eleven cyclists (38 ±12 years) and eleven triathletes (44 ±8 years) with competitive experience performed 2-min trials at four different saddle heights (preferred, high, low, theoretical optimal) each separated by one minute of rest...
متن کاملA Public Bicycle Sharing System Considering Renting and Middle Stations
Recently, public bicycle sharing system (PBSS) has become one of the most favorite urban transportation systems that can help governments to decrease environmental problems such as pollution and traffic. This paper studies a sharing system that includes two types of stations. The first category contains stations that users can rent or return back bicycles and each bicycle can be rented by any n...
